Web Application Developer

Yakabod is seeking an Entry-Level Web Application Developer to join our Application Factory Team. Recent graduates and those with a few years of experience will be considered. A bit of everything will be required – from integrating and supporting critical customer applications to creating new components in our core technology. You’ll be expected to reliably ‘get things done’. You must be a self-motivated, entrepreneurial, problem solver who loves to build software that ‘works the way it ought to’.

Key Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship and the willingness to submit to a TS/SCI Clearance and polygraph process
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related major with GPA 3.0 or higher
  • Passion for writing high quality code and building applications that focus on great user experience
  • Working knowledge of web development in at least one programming language - ideally PHP (bonus for knowing more than one)
  • Operate within the Scrum agile development methodology
  • Understanding of Relational databases
  • Knowledge of underlying web technologies: HTTP (request, response, headers,cookies), HTML, CSS, JavaScript and AJAX
  • Extremely detail-oriented, creative, dependable and trustworthy, with a positive attitude
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, as well as ability to multitask, collaborate, and work well within a team environment

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Solid ability to work with MVC design patterns in building PHP code
  • Familiarity with Linux systems (Red Hat, CentOS) and proficiency with command line Syntax
  • Knowledge of the LAMP architecture and related concepts
  • Familiarity with JQuery, React, NodeJS, or other Javascript frameworks
  • Knowledge of cacheing strategies (Redis) and message queuing technologies (RabbitMQ)
  • Experience with CVS or other source control tools
